Rehabilitation Technology for Societal Participation conference

The BIS Research Team, Caroline Seton and Cameron McIntosh, attended the Rehabilitation Technology for Societal Participation conference, hosted by Professor Andrew Bateman at the University of Essex. The event showcased a full day of engaging discussions, presentations, and poster sessions, all highlighting innovative approaches to neurorehabilitation. Central themes included integrating technology into rehabilitation, addressing challenges in translating research to practice, and enhancing outcomes for individuals with neurological conditions.

Caroline presented an exciting new project evaluating the role of cognitive rehabilitation assistants (CRAs) in supporting community-based goal attainment for individuals with brain injury. During the poster session, the team shared insights into how CRAs use tailored cognitive strategies to help clients achieve independence and improve functional outcomes. The feedback and discussions with attendees were invaluable, reinforcing the relevance of the research in developing practical solutions for brain injury rehabilitation.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas with experts in the field. Caroline and Cameron found the experience inspiring, particularly the shared commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals through evidence-based and technology-driven approaches. The event highlighted the critical role research plays in advancing neurorehabilitation practices.
