ILT Coordinator & Research Associate
BSc. MSc
Cam holds a BSc. in Psychology, and MSc in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health. Cam started at the BIS Services as a psychology graduate at the end of 2020, working as a cognitive rehabilitation assistant. Over two and a half years, he worked with numerous clients affected by traumatic brain injuries, with a variety of cognitive and physical impairments. Through the training and support provided by the BIS Services, he developed the skills to navigate the complexities of supporting individuals who have experienced such a sudden change in their lives.
Cam now coordinates the independent living trials at the BIS Services, assessing the support needs and capacity of our clients who wish to live a more independent and fulfilling life. He is also part of the BIS research team, exploring ways in which cognitive rehabilitation can be optimised to best support those living with a traumatic brain injury.
ILT responsibilities include assessing clients’ sleep hygiene, fatigue management, time management, therapy engagement, skills of daily living, and further areas of independent living. Cam oversees the completion of assessments of risk and need, mitigation plans for clients with behaviours that challenge, and behavioural assessments and outcome measures of independent living, including the SASNOS, FIM+FAM and ICF. He completes discharge reports which are shared within therapeutic circles, and used in a medico-legal context and supervises the ILT rehabilitation assistants.
In his research role he works with Caroline on research conceptualisation, literature reviews, study design, data collection. Cam co-manages our team of research assistants, providing training and support with goal setting using the GAS format, and completing ICF assessments with rehab assistants
In his spare time, Cam can be found working on his 1973 campervan, hiking, fishing, bouldering, and relaxing in coffee shops
