FAMILY WORK
Provision For Younger Clients
We understand the complexities of working with a brain injury sustained during brain development, and the need for specialist support and rehabilitation. We are able to support families of children and young adults who have sustained a brain injury, as well as having experience of working in families where both adult and child have sustained an injury.
Understanding the needs of childhood transitions, both envionmentally and psychologically is important when working with our younger clients. Engagement, rapport and continuity is key for positive outcomes, and we provide additional training for our Cognitive Rehabilitation Assistants working with these clients. BIS Services work with Educational Psychologists, schools and SEND coordinators, as well as being adept at implementing behavioural plans.
As part of on ongoing service development, we continue to expand our child services, allowing for a seamless transition between childrens and adult services. We understand brain development extends far past 18 years, and adapt to the transitions that occur through to around age 28 years.
How Do You Adapt Your Services For Children
Although family work is always an important factor when onboarding our clients, there is more emphasis on this element from referral stage, taking into account the wider parental and sibling needs when considering matching and skills of our Cognitive Rehabilitation Assistants.
BIS Services will also work closely from the outset with Educational Psychologists and Paediatric Neuro Psychologists and the wider team.
Working With Schools
BIS Services know the importance of interdisciplinacy working with schools or educational settings. We can provide 1:1 support in the classroom setting, as well as providing bespoke training to both teaching staff and other pupils to enhance understanding of the childs needs.
Improving Function Through Play
Our CRAs matched with children all have experience of working with children in a variety of settings. We match them carefully to each child package, to ensure early rapport that allows for innovative and engaging sessions that focus on improving cognitive skills in an imaginative and functional play based manner.

BIS Services understand the intrusive nature of working in clients homes and community, and uphold professional standards in all settings. Our commitment to enhancing professional standards across the sector is key to our vision.
