Cognitive Rehabilitation Assistants
Our trained and expert cognitive rehabilitation assistants work with therapists to facilitate the most appropriate support programme to improve the functional skills to increase independent living skills and confidence. All of our CRAs hold a minimum of a Psychology degree or are finishing their studies, with many undertaking Masters Level degrees or PhD study.
We utilise a bespoke sessional report system, that is personalised to the individual needs of the client, and constructed in close collaboration with the multi disciplinary team to ensure high levels of evidence and data to inform future care and support justification.

We are so much more than a cognitive support service. We bring best-in-class levels of expertise, empathy and integrity to our work. Our cognitive rehabilitation assistants collaborate with a variety of external therapists to deliver the support an individual needs to ensure they have as high a quality of life as possible.
In addition, CRAs receive high level supervision, clinical reflective practice and training to ensure that they are equipped to manage to demands of working with challenging situations.
Expert Training and Supervision
Staff undertake thorough induction training, which includes mandatory training, as well as specialist brain injury and cognitive rehabiliation modules. We hold regular in person training days which cover deeper mandatory modules, specialist topics, guest speakers and regular case study clinics.
BIS Services provide one to one clinical supervision and mentoring, in addition to extensive training on safeguarding, report writing and risk and rehabilitation planning.
Improving Standards
Many of our CRAs progress to Clinical Training as a result of the level of experience they gain at BIS Services, qualifying as Clinical Psychologists which aligns with the BIS vision of improving provision beyond our own services.
BIS Services employ all of our staff directly, and there are no zero hour contracts. We believe our staff should be afforded secure and stable income to ensure consistency and continuity for our clients.

How do I make a referral?

What areas do you cover?
We cover all over the UK, with most of our clients are in England and Wales.
Do you employ your cognitive rehabilitation assistants or are they self-employed?
All CRAs are employed on either a full time salaried contract or part time contracted hours.
Do you provide personal care?
We do not provide intimate personal care, such as washing, dressing, feeding etc. We also do not provide manual handling. Our services do include prompting and supervision.
How do you match?
BIS Services have a large number of CRAs and where possible we will match one of these to the requirements of the client. We provide individual staff profiled for consideration. BIS Services team are exceptionally skilled at matching CRAs, and will always make our own recommendations. We will ask for preferences at referral stage and will endeavour to meet these. When the preferences are more limited, it can be harder to recruit within psychology graduates. We will keep you informed at all times of progress.
How much do you charge?

What if I don’t get on with my CRA?
You will have a Meet & Greet with your CRA, to make sure you feel they are the right match for you. For the first 6 weeks we will keep in regular contact with you and your team to gain feedback and make sure everything is going ok. It doesn’t happen very often but sometimes things don’t work out. We will speak to you and your team about what route to take and if needed will introduce another CRA. Our Client Liaison Officer is always there as well for you to speak to.
How do I know my CRA is competent and trained?
All of our CRAs have a background in Psychology, either having graduated or being in the final year. We provide extensive onboarding training, and they receive training from our specialists in brain injury and cogntive rehabilitation. They will also usually receive training from your own team, to ensure their knowledge is personal to you.
